Associate Professor of Italian

Steven Grossvogel holds a doctorate from Cornell University. Before coming to UGA, he taught at the Università degli Studi di Bologna as a lector. He is the author of Ambiguity and Allusion in Boccaccio's Filocolo (Olschki, 1992). His articles have appeared in Studi sul Boccaccio, Italiana, Il Veltro, MLN, This Rough Magic, Monocle. He has also contributed to the Modern Language Association series volume Approaches to Teaching Boccaccio’s Decameron (MLA, 2000); Boccaccio: A Critical Guide to the Complete Works (Chicago Univ. Press, 2013); The Decameron Third Day in Perspective (Toronto Univ. Press, 2014); and Medieval Italy: An Encyclopedia (Routledge, 2004; enlarged and revised 2018 and 2021).
