Assistant Professor of Spanish (Contemporary Iberian Studies)

Priscila Calatayud-Fernández works as an Assistant Professor of Spanish and Iberian Studies in the Department of Modern Languages at the University of Georgia. She defended her dissertation, Inoperative Figures of Work (1930-2014), at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, where she taught courses on Peninsular Cinema and Narrative. Priscila’s field of expertise is Modern and Contemporary Iberian Studies, with an emphasis on literature and film produced within the Catalan, Asturian, and Galician-speaking regions. Her current research explores representations of workers and women’s labor from the 19th and 20th centuries to the present in Spain, as seen in academic articles and her current book-length project, titled Aesthetics of the Unfinished. Finitude, Work, and Social Reproduction in Iberia. She also received a B.A. in Journalism from the Universitat Autónoma de Barcelona, a B.A. in Literary Theory, and an M.A. in Teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language from the Universidad de Salamanca. She has served as an Assistant Teaching Professor of Spanish at the Pennsylvania State University, as a Lecturer I at the University of Michigan, and as an Instructor and Cultural Program Coordinator at Colorado College.
