Teaching Assistant of Spanish

Lisette C. Whitehead is a master's student in Spanish Literature and Hispanic Studies in the Department of Romance Languages at the University of Georgia. Her research interests include Latin American literature written by women, Latinx studies, decolonial perspectives, gender theories, and education. 

Currently, she teaches SPAN 1001 at UGA and also teaches English as a Second Language (ESL) and Spanish at The Hello House in East Athens, Georgia. In the summer of 2025, Lisette served as a Study Abroad Program Assistant for UGA en España in Valencia, Spain, and during the 20242025 academic year, she assisted with SPAN 2001 and SPAN 1002. Prior to her time at UGA, she taught in various educational contexts and worked for several years as an ESL instructor for both children and adults in Santiago, Chile.

Lisette is committed to fostering Spanish Literature and Hispanic Studies through her research, while enhancing diverse strategies to implement these fields across broader educational settings.
