PhD student, Brazilian Literature Teaching Assistant of Portuguese Teaching Assistant of Spanish Elisa Braga has a B.A. and a Teaching Licensure in English from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG), in Brazil, as well as a M.A. in Romance Languages from the University of Georgia, with a focus on comparing the literature of the Americas. They are currently a PhD Student at the University of Georgia. Their research interests include coming of age literature and the Bildungsroman, comparative humanities, gender and sexuality studies, and queer Latin American literature. They wish to explore the ways in which identity is shaped, developed and portrayed, especially in marginalized communities. Elisa is honored to have received the 2025 Outstanding Teaching Assistant Award by the Center of Teaching and learning at UGA. They have experience teaching, tutoring and developing academic materials for English, Portuguese and Spanish. They enjoy teaching in a manner that is student-centered, dynamic and engaging. Currently, they are a Teaching Assistant of Portuguese and Spanish in the Romance Languages Department. Elisa is currently working with queer stories from Latin America.
